Kuok (Singapore) Limited's logistics business is operated through its subsidiary or associate
companies. Each subsidiary or associate specializes in different aspects of the logistic business.
1. Sea Transportation
Pacific Carriers Limited (“PCL”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kuok (Singapore) Limited, was incorporated in Singapore in 1973 and has sinced established itself as a global player in the shipping industry. Today it has commercial offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, USA and the United Kingdom, and is a leading dry bulk operator with a growing fleet of product tankers as well as offshore support vessels.
Through PACC Container Line Pte Ltd (“PACL”), a 100% subsidiary of PCL, the Group has expanded into liner shipping. PACL operates specialized vessels that call at the shallower feeder ports around the region, thus providing seamless transportation of containerized cargoes coming out from this region into Singapore or other Hub Ports in Asia. The Group also operates a break bulk liner service from South-East-Asia to the Gulf coast of America.
2. Freight Forwarding/Airfreight/Warehousing/Land transportation
In January 2004, PCL together with Kerry Logistics Network (“KLN”) of Hong Kong established Kerry Logistics (South East Asia) Pte Ltd to expand into this aspect of the logistics business. With offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, it offers a total logistics business covering supply chain management and contract logistics, freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution, and transportation and distribution services to cater to a more mature and sophisticated range of customers in the region. Through the tie up with KLN, Kerry Logistics is connected to 150 cities in 15 countries throughout the world, with total warehousing facilities of more than 16 million square feet of space and a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles.
